PLATFORM

Our city is growing fast, but not everyone is sharing in that growth. If elected, I’ll focus on five key priorities that ensure District 5 isn't left behind — and that we build a Frederick where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

1/ Safe, Decent, Stable, Affordable Housing

Housing is foundational to a strong and healthy community. I’ll fight to:

  • Increase access to affordable rental and homeownership options
  • Preserve and improve existing affordable housing stock
  • Support creative housing models like ADUs, conversions, co-housing, and mixed-use zoning
  • Ensure development benefits working families and long-time residents — not just outside investors

2/ Safe Streets & Neighborhoods

Everyone deserves the freedom to move around our city safely and affordably. I’ll advocate for:

  • A stronger public transit system with expanded routes and reliability
  • Safe and accessible biking and pedestrian infrastructure
  • Infrastructure investments that connect people to jobs, schools, and services — especially in underserved areas

3/ Economic Security & Community Wealth

I believe government should empower and enrich people — not just outside investors. I’ll champion:

  • Worker-owned and community-owned business models
  • Local hiring and job training partnerships
  • Support for small businesses and entrepreneurs, especially in historically excluded communities
  • Programs that build intergenerational wealth and economic resilience

4/ Vibrant, Community-Focused Arts & Parks

Parks and public spaces should reflect the culture, creativity, and values of the people who live here. I’ll work to:

  • Expand and modernize parks in District 5
  • Support accessible community arts programming and cultural spaces
  • Prioritize community engagement in design and investment decisions

5/ Affordable, Quality Childcare

Working families need reliable, affordable childcare options. I’ll support partnerships and local solutions that expand access and affordability for parents in every neighborhood.

  • Streamline zoning and permitting for in-home and center-based childcare providers
  • Provide capital grants or low-interest loans to help providers expand, renovate, or open new facilities
  • Leverage public spaces to co-locate or incubate childcare programs and expand affordable camp options
  • Partner with employers and nonprofits to pilot shared-services models, wage supports, and workforce development programs

Supporting Schools & Students in Frederick

While the City of Frederick does not directly fund or manage our public schools, its policies — from development and transportation to youth services and public safety — have a direct impact on the everyday lives of students, families, and educators.

As a father of three and former PTA Treasurer at North Frederick Elementary, I’m committed to using every tool available at the City level to be a strong advocate and partner for our schools.

Plan Smart Growth that Accounts for School Capacity
New development must align with school enrollment projections and construction timelines. I’ll work with Frederick County, the Board of Education, and city planners to ensure that our neighborhoods grow in a way that supports — not strains — our schools.

Invest in Safe, Walkable Routes to School
Safe routes to school are essential. I’ll prioritize infrastructure improvements like sidewalks, lighting, traffic calming, and bike lanes so that every child can walk or ride safely to school, and every parent can feel confident sending them there.

Be a Strong Partner with FCPS and the County
City leaders should be proactive partners in advocating for timely school construction funding, equitable resource allocation, and expanded after-school programming. I’ll use my platform to advocate for Frederick students at the county and state levels.

Support Community-Based Youth Services
The City plays a critical role in after-school programming, summer engagement, mentoring, and emergency assistance. I’ll work to expand these services and align them with school needs so every child has the support they need beyond the classroom.
